Beautiful South at BFI Southbank

Our quarterly showcase for South London's film-making talent run in conjunction with the Hayward Gallery and BFI Southbank returns on May 8th, for an evening of screenings, networking and discussion.

Inspired by various BFI programmes this month, May’s theme for the open strand is ‘Little Britain’ exploring notions of home and identity, both national and local.

There will again be two strands: the first at 5:30 is a showcase for the various excellent training schemes in the borough and will feature a British feature filmmaker (TBA); and the second at 7:00 features works selected following an open submission.

This session culminates in a panel discussion on issues pertinent to careers in film. members of this panel will include:
Josic Cadoret - New Talent Coordinator, Film London
Jo ensures the successful development and delivery of the Digital Shorts scheme and other production projects including the London Borough Film Fund initiatives and the EQUAL project.
Rebecca Mark-Lawson - Executive Producer, Lifesize Pictures
Rebecca manages the short film programme on behalf of the UK Film Council’s New Cinema Fund. Through the production company Lifesize Pictures she is responsible for overseeing all of the fund’s Short Film Schemes including Digital Shorts, Cinema Extreme and the Completion Fund at Lifesize Pictures. She was formerly the Development Executive for New Talent at EM Media, the Regional Screen Agency for the East Midlands.

Other panellists are to be announced shortly.
